A Public Hearing for the issuance of a Development Permit for Boardwalk Residences was held at the City of Victoria on May 24, 2007. Council unanimously voted in favour of the project. The issuance of the Development Permit is a significant milestone for the Selkirk Waterfront Community as Boardwalk is the final phase of the Selkirk Waterfront Community. The master plan for Selkirk was established in 1991 and with this final approval is now nearing completion.

The $40 million dollar residential care facility ‘Selkirk Place’ planned for the Selkirk Waterfront Community was unanimously approved by Victoria City Council last night. Two buildings are planned for the site that fronts on to Waterfront Crescent and backs on to Gorge Road. The senior’s facility will house 208 complex care beds and 41 assisted living beds and 4 one-bedroom apartments. Vancouver Island Health Authority hopes to have the facility open in 2008. The project will add another dimension to the already diverse Selkirk Waterfront Community. Construction is expected to start this month. The public-private development will be built and operated by the Ahmon Group.
